To any Colorado state resident or out-of-state US citizen who wants to file a Complaint against the District Judge on Tina Peter’s case, here are step-by-step instructions on how to do it via your computer if you need them (not sure if the info below will be the same from a cell phone). I tried to make it as simple and easy as possible, so even if you are not a tech savvy person, you can still feel empowered to file…

UPDATE: IF YOU FILED YOUR COMPLAINT WITH A DIFFERENT CASE NO THAN WRITTEN BELOW, PLEASE RESUBMIT YOUR COMPLAINT and MARK IT AS A CRIMINAL CASE.

1. Go to: https://ccjd.colorado.gov/

2. Scroll down on that page and click the ‘Submit a Complaint’ icon.

3. That will bring you here: https://co.accessgov.com/ccjd/Forms/Page/ccjd/cff9fde5-5dfe-4516-8264-2bce2b9b6ba9/df502e44-9b2d-4183-921f-301d8edc8d28/1

4. On that page, scroll down to the question, ‘Is your complaint about a Magistrate or Attorney?’ and click the button for ‘No’.

5. On that same page, another question will appear…’Is your complaint about a State of Colorado District or County Court judge (except Denver County), Court of Appeals judge, or Supreme Court justice?’ For this question, click the button for ‘Yes’,

6. On that same page, the verbiage ‘Please click the "Start Form" button below to fill out our form’ will appear. You can either click the blue ‘Start Form’ button…or…you can click the words in the box that say ‘Download form as a PDF for anonymous submission. Please email or mail it to us. The email address is: [email protected]. I did not click those words but I imagine that the PDF form has the ‘mail to’ address on it. You can just type in the boxes of the PDF and then print it.

7. If you clicked the blue ‘Start Form’ button, you can now start filling in the form, starting with the Judge’s info which you can find here: https://www.coloradojudicial.gov/contact/matthew-d-barrett. If you cannot access that link for any reason the Judge info is as follows:

Judge’s First Name: Matthew
Judge’s Last Name: Barrett
Judge's County or Judicial District: 21st (for Mesa County)
Judicial Position: District Judge

Anything that has a red star by it means you HAVE to fill that box in with info. So, your first name, last name and full address are mandatory to fill in. Email and phone are optional.

8. At the bottom right, click ‘Next Page’.

9. On this page, you enter the following information:

Does this request arise out of a court case? – Click ‘Yes’
Case name: State of Colorado v. Tina Peters
Case number: 2022CR371
What kind of case is it? – Choose ‘Criminal'
What is your involvement in this case? – If you are a CO resident or out-of-stater who is filing, you choose ‘Other’

10. For the question ‘When did the judge's conduct occur?’ you can put the date as the newspaper article date:
Approximate date: 10/03/2024
Approximate time: 12:00pm (I got the time for this using the clock to the left of Barrett in the Youtube video from the day of her sentencing.)

11. For the next box that says ‘Explain your concerns regarding this judge’s conduct. Be specific and include all information that will help the Commission understand your concerns. You may attach a separate summary or letter, if necessary.’…this is where you can use Chat GPT (https://chatgpt.com/) to help you… ‘Explain your concerns regarding this judge’s conduct. Be specific and include all information that will help the Commission understand your concerns. You may attach a separate summary or letter, if necessary. is required.’

Example: (you should put in your own words though)

I, (state your name) am filing this complaint against Judge Matthew Barrett because his conduct in the case of State of Colorado v. Tina Peters, Case No: 2022CR371 constitutes judicial misconduct. The judge's actions were not merely legal errors; they were a deliberate and punitive use of his judicial authority to improperly affect the defendant, Tina Peters, and her fundamental constitutional rights.
