North Toe River Green Mountain NC elevation 2,000 feet. It’s great to see the CSX trains running again after Helene destroyed the tracks one year ago. The finest quartz in the world is mined here in neighboring Spruce Pine and goes into almost every electronic device that you own. This rail line is essential to national security. We live 2.5 miles above here at 3,100 elevation. The home on top of our mountain sits at 4,200 ft. Nearby Mt Mitchell’s peak is 6,684.
