A Federal shutdown doesn’t stop everything. It only hits discretionary spending — agencies, parks, passports, and many federal workers. Mandatory programs like Social Security, Medicare, and debt payments keep going. In short: services pause, checks don’t.

Every Republican except Rand Paul—who often votes against spending bills—supported the continuing resolution. Even if Senator Paul had voted ‘yes,’ it wouldn’t have changed the outcome. The measure required at least 5 Democrats to provide the necessary votes, and yet not a single one of them supported it. This shutdown is ALL on DEMOCRATS, and more specifically on Chuck Schumer. #DemocratShutdown #SchumerShutdown

Personally, I'm all in FOR shutting down this bloated, bureaucratic monster we call a government. As previously pointed out, the government doesn't actually shut down in a shutdown. Essential agencies, services, and personnel are kept active and operational while all the non-essential parts are shut down and their personnel sent home.

"Non-essential." Hmm, ... seems to me like an ideal and logical place for President Trump to start truly downsizing, doesn't it?
