50 Year Old Hay Equipment Kicking The Weather's Ass!

We just finished our first hay cut of the season—and not a moment too soon. Storms were rolling in as we raked and hauled the last load off one of our steepest fields.

Using a 1980 Kubota L3750 and two pieces of 50+ year-old equipment (a New Holland 451 sickle bar mower and New Holland 55 rake), we cut and raked this steep Appalachian ground the old-school way. Then we used our CAT 248B skid steer with a grapple bucket to haul the loose hay into the barn before the rain hit.

This is small-farm haymaking under pressure—no baler, no flat ground, just stubborn machines and a little grit.
