Indonesia’s Most Haunting Religious Ritual

I travelled deep into remote Indonesia and discovered one of the most haunting traditions I’ve ever seen. But in same way very spiritual and awesome. 🙏🏻

Here, in a hidden place known only to local families, the dead remain with the living.

Generations of ancestors are laid to rest together, with skulls and bones openly displayed, ancient coffins carved into the shapes of buffalo and ships , symbols of their journey to the afterlife. Walking through this sacred site, I was surrounded by human remains scattered everywhere, an experience both chilling and deeply spiritual.

This isn’t a tourist attraction. Almost no outsiders ever come here. What I found was a raw glimpse into a tradition that has survived for centuries, connecting the living with their ancestors in a way the modern world has nearly forgotten.
