India & China Agree To Resume Direct Flights After Modi-Xi Meet | Firstpost Live | N18G

India and China have agreed to resume direct flights by the end of October. This followed discussions between the civil aviation authorities of both countries. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs made the announcement, adding that the discussions had been on since earlier this year. It said that the talks focused on restoring direct air connectivity and finalising a revised air services agreement to facilitate that. New Delhi said the move will further facilitate people-to-people exchanges and strengthen economic collaboration between the two nations. Following the announcement, Indian air carrier Indigo announced the resumption of flights connecting Kolkata to Guangzhou, starting from October 26. The decision to resume flights followed a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in August on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Tianjin.
