Episode 29 – The Third Amendment: Quartering soldiers

“No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.”

Imagine you’re sitting at home, minding your business, when the government suddenly knocks on your door and says:
“Hey, congrats — you’re now the proud landlord of three soldiers. They’ll be sleeping in your bed, eating your food, and raiding your liquor cabinet. And no, you don’t get a choice.”

The Framers hated it so much they locked a permanent “No Trespassing” sign into the Constitution.
