Council Just Buried Pickering in $331 Million Debt — Without Telling You the Truth

On Monday, September 29th at 1 p.m., while most residents were at work, Pickering Council held a Special Meeting that changed the future of our city. In just over three hours, they approved the Seaton Recreation Complex & Library — a $266 million dollar project that will send property taxes soaring nearly 12% and explode our city debt from $5 million today to $331 million by 2027.

For every single minute of that meeting, Council committed $1.4 million of your money — with almost no consultation, no honest disclosure, and no accountability. Surveys counted children as “support,” but never once mentioned the 11.71% tax hike.

I was the only Councillor who voted NO. Not because I oppose recreation or libraries — but because you deserved the truth. You deserved real consultation. And you deserved a say before Council locked you into 20 years of debt.

This isn’t about building community. It’s about building a political legacy — on your back.

Then to top it all off...The Mayor tried to distract you with a lie — the same tactic he always uses. He twists my words, he misrepresents what I say, and tries to bully and intimidate instead of being honest with you.,
