Puzzling! HARASSMENT & INTIMIDATION by Airbnb Hosts and Gardai of Bunclody/ Enniscorthy

This one might take a couple of videos because the events leading up to this point make no sense. and in hindsight, I think we were in more danger than we realized. While this was highly uncomfortable, it might have spared us from something else.

This video details some of the escalated events that happened after we raised a concern with AirBnB. The hosts could have easily addressed these matters.

- We were the only guests in the BnB called Monkey Puzzle
- We were placed in a room with a camera that was right on front of our room. The moment you'd open the door, the person with the bed by the door would be see in a state of rest that should be private and comfortable. This type of peace of mind is an integral part of hospitality.
- We asked for a change of rooms seeing that we were the only ones in a property in a remote area with 20+ rooms, most of which did not have a camera directly in front of the door.
- We were told there were no other rooms but later found that there were indeed rooms available. Someone knocked on our door briefly for about a second, We covered the camera and were told not to. So we kept trying to get AirBnB to have us replace our booking on fair terms.
- Guests started coming in on a Friday/Saturday and the already, were stomping atop our room on the upper floor and laughing about it. A middle aged couple doing this, and following me to the kitchen earlier in the day as I was preparing a meal for me and my sisters - trying o instruct me about where to cut my vegetables, and which bin to use for what - which I was already aware of. I ignored the attempt to get a reaction from me. At first I responded to the cutting board thing, stating that a chefs kitchen countertop actually is better than getting shards of plastic onto your food. I only realized she was trying to annoy me deliberately - her and her husband but she was persistent and left when when I wouldn't take the bait.
- Than same night, they kept banging things upstairs and around 3 a.m. , including what sounded like furniture, and laughing. We think they were sent to do this just to make us more uncomfortable.
- This while the matter we raised about the camera was still being in process of being resolved by Airbnb. But they could not resolve it. So we made the best of the situation.
- Today would have been our checkout day but they were determined to distress us.
- On Sunday, the host bangs our door and says that we ought to leave. This was confusing. We had a case open with Airbnb and that was the place to try to actually dispute or explain the matter. Nothing. After causing commotion he says he "offers to refund the other days" if we left. How could we just leave without a resolution with Airbnb nor a booking in place? When we stood up for ourselves, they retreated after causing distress through intimidation tactics, threatening to call garda to which we said we'll consider your offer; but brought a Gardai later at night at about 11pm. When he saw my sister, she looked out to see what was going on, asked if everything was alright. He smugly replied: "Everything's perfect". I guess he was chatting with the said 'owner' devising a plan.
- Next day on Monday, they got woke me up with banging on the door and got the gardai to intervene in a civil matter. Weeks ago, we had issues with deliberate noise pollution/ disruption to which the garda said there was nothing they could no because the matter a civil matter. Yet, this time, they tried to twist the truth about our rights, broke the lock on our door to force us out without letting Airbnb in on this. No communication on the eviction to Airbnb.
- After a few minutes of banging the door, there was silence. not recorded. And then suddenly attempts to unlock the door with a code and then after that to break down the door because we had a lock on it in case of something like this. After a back and forth, we decided we'd pack but I had to state that I would not be getting out of bed entertaining the men there. They left and as you'll see in the video, the woman tried to stay in there as if we were some kind of criminals. We refused to be treated as such - not that we handled the situation in the best way but I digress. While we packed after the threat, they laughed and chatted. One of the garda made a call to his friend, all laughs, saying "It's Garda [so and so]. I hope you're not naked" and laughed. We asked for him to take his personal conversation elsewhere. The lady fought us on this as well. Total harassment!

Our bodies are still recovering from the shock of this incident amidst all the others having being built up in our system to cause distress and trauma.
