🫀 Full Plot Description

A grisly multiple-homicide is discovered in a quiet Virginia house; among the victims lies the half-buried body of an unknown young woman—naked, unmarked, and seemingly untouched by the carnage around her. Sheriff Burke brings the body—labeled only “Jane Doe”—to the experienced coroner Tommy Tilden and his son Austin for an immediate autopsy, hoping they can explain her death before the press arrives.

As they examine her, outwardly there is no trauma: her skin flawless, wrists and ankles intact, eyes cloudy but open. Inside, however, they uncover impossible injuries—shattered bones, scarred lungs, missing molars lodged in her stomach, ritualistic markings on the underside of her skin, and severe internal burns—contradicting her undamaged exterior. Each new discovery deepens the puzzle and the dread.

While a storm rages outside, strange phenomena begin: radios detune to eerie songs, lights flicker, doors slam shut, and the other corpses in storage seem to stir. Tommy and Austin realize the body may not be a mere victim but the source of the disturbances—an ancient witch-like presence preserved for centuries and tortured during witch trials, her soul bound in her body.

Trapped underground by the storm and failing power, father and son attempt to finish the autopsy to “free” her spirit, but the supernatural forces escalate—illusions, injuries, and fatal accidents follow. In a desperate act of sacrifice, Tommy offers his own life to appease Jane Doe, absorbing her wounds so she might be released. Austin is left horrified and alone as the morgue’s elevator opens to the arriving authorities—yet the corpse of Jane Doe remains unburned, unchanged, and still subtly alive, ready to be transported elsewhere, implying the cycle will continue.
