I wrote this song in the very beginning of 2020 (right before the whole world went into chaos). My dad and I were praying for a very sick person. Praise God, the person was healed immediately! But while we were praying, I heard the Lord give me this song in the spirit. The words and melody just floated through my mind. It came so strongly I actually excused myself as soon as possible from the room so that I could go record what I just heard on my phone! We began worshiping with this new song at my church, and it was shortly thereafter that all of the events of 2020 began to play out. This song helped prepare our church family for the difficulties they were about to face. The people in our church agreed that is very crucial for this song for this hour, so I dropped everything to get this song out as an encouragement to build our faith in the God during these times.

Nearly every single line of this song comes straight from the scripture! Two of the key passages that make up the lyrics of this are Psalm 32:7 and 34:7: “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7) and “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them” (Psalm 34:7). The word of God does not return void! It is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword. And there is no better way to grow in faith than to hear the Word of God.

I will leave you with this thought. When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, He told them many things that we are familiar with. He told them to pray for the kingdom of God to come and He told them to pray for their daily bread. And along with that prayer for daily bread, He told us to pray for deliverance from the evil one! Why? Because Jesus knew that we would need it on a regular basis. Deliverance is not just something that happens for demonized people once in a lifetime. It is something that God does for His people as their father. And we can ask for deliverance as often as we ask for daily bread! He is a father and He is a deliverer!
