Verstitution Conclusion

I don't believe that I dealt with what might be the ideal sequence following the 6 month flash forward, but I will now.

1) Appeal

2) Claudia calls Ernest to tell him about Larry and Frank from the honor farm skipping the country to run from the larger mob that they crossed by attempting to extort one of their goons.

3) Celebration / romantic montage

4) Ernest passes on the good news to Madison, from Barry, that they won the appeal, and that he'll be able to accompany her on the publicity tour.

5) Tour, during which Madison falls for Ernest, and Ernest can no longer resist her beauty and unconventional charm.

I thought it best to allow any celebrity talk show hosts to ad lib if they wished rather than writing so much as a synopsis or theme.

I was having serious health problems in 2022 and '23 due to auto-immune disease, which is why I wrote the conclusion out of sequence.

[Ernest finds a condo and a new car in the city, both under Madison's name to conceal records from the honor farm supervisors. He contacts his colleague, Barry "Sorry" Sorrenson, to handle the appeal of Madison's case, which is successful on the basis of the sugar daddy concept not having been criminalized prior to verstitution.

Following the appeal, Claudia informs Ernest that Larry and Frank from the honor farm fled the country after attempting to extort an inmate with high ranking mob connections.

Ernest is therefore able to accompany Madison on her publicity tour, following the successful appeal, in which he's admitted to have played a critical strategic role.

Madison missed Ernest's company and wit during the appeal, realizing how much she grew to love him, but Claudia had also fallen in love with Ernest, as he had been her inspiration to leave the police force and become a private investigator. Ernest's insistence upon the invitation to the ritzy French restaurant being out of gratitude and not in the interest of romantic pursuit also served to enhance her attraction toward him.

Madison, so enamored of French culture, cuisine, and humor, is enticed to further her modeling career abroad, in France. She wants Ernest to leave America to live with her.

Claudia wants Ernest to live with her, too, and there are no criminal justice based impediments due to the corrupt honor farm supervisors fleeing the country.

The story ends with Ernest picking up the phone...

"Hello, Madison?"

[The scene fades out. Another scene transitions to clarity from a blur. Ernest is shown picking up the phone again.]

"Hello, Claudia?"

The End

Once the closing credits are completed, I do have an optional extension to the unresolved ending.

Claudia: "I can't believe you asked me to come live with you and Madison in France, Ernest! I knew you didn't have a single romantic bone in your body."

Ernest: "But... the ménage à trois is an authentic part of French culture. They're very loving, caring, sharing people."

Claudia: "Enjoy your culture, PIG!"

[The camera remains on Claudia while the exchange continues.]

Claudia: "You heard me!"

[5 seconds pass.]

Claudia: "Oui! Exactement!"

[Claudia knows that pressing the button to hang up her cell phone will have little or no impact, and finds herself longing for the old days of slamming a rotary model. She stands up, walks to her front door, opens it, then slams it.]

Claudia: "Goodbye, Ernest." [Click]

The Definitive End
