Welcome to Our Republic.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

When the Founders wrote the Second Amendment, they weren’t talking about duck hunting. They had just fought off the most powerful empire on Earth — with militias made up of farmers, blacksmiths, and shopkeepers. So when they said, “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed,” they meant it. Not a suggestion. Not a privilege. A right.
