Growth hormone is vital for fat loss, muscle building, repair, and recovery. However, it declines with age—so it’s something you want to boost naturally.
When growth hormone levels decrease, we lose muscle mass, gain body fat, experience a decline in bone density, our skin becomes thinner, and insulin sensitivity decreases.
Growth hormone works by signaling the hormone IGF-1 through a conversion process in the liver with the help of insulin. Although insulin is necessary for this process, excessive insulin can inhibit growth hormone. Obesity, sugar, stress, alcohol, overeating, low vitamin D, and poor sleep can also block growth hormone.
To boost growth hormone naturally by 2 to 3x, try the following:
