Meet Our Clients: Why This Young Artist Left the UK for Vietnam 🇻🇳

On this journey with your Big Uncle, we hear from Calum — a young man from Scotland who finally had enough of the nonsense back home. He went through art school, got his degree, and tried to make it in the UK art industry. But because he didn’t parrot the same far-left ideology everyone else was pushing, he was told he had the “wrong ideas.” That’s the kind of brainwashing he was surrounded by, and he’d had enough of it.

Calum comes from a working-class background. He worked real jobs, lived in the real world, and just wanted to teach art. Instead, he was stuck in an industry that cared more about politics than talent. So he packed his bags and left.

Now, thanks to Reborn Abroad, Calum has a teaching job in Vietnam, his own art studio in his house, and the freedom to create without anyone breathing down his neck. In Vietnam, no one cares what you believe as long as you stay out of domestic politics. He makes his art, teaches English, and lives life on his own terms.

This is Calum’s story of leaving Scotland behind and starting fresh in Vietnam.
