I wanted a stylus pen to use with my new A16 11th generation iPad, but I did not want to pay too much for it.

My first choice would have been the Apple Pencil (USB-C) from Apple, but at £79, that was out of the question. Looking around, I decided to give the £14.99 Mixoo Stylus Pen a try. I was rather pleased that I did.

In the rather upmarket box, I received the pen itself, three spare pen tips (one is already installed), a USB-C charging cable, a tiny cleaning cloth, and a user guide. Build quality seems fine, although plastic, the pen seems well made with a surprisingly upmarket feel to it.

At 60g, the pen has some weight to it and sits nicely in the hand. It is rounded but with an anti-roll flat side housing the USB-C charging port and a tiny LCD battery status screen. On one end is the removable tip, just unscrew to replace the tip; on the other is the power button, which has a proper clicky action. The pen houses a surprisingly powerful magnet and is just the right size to fit into my Vobafe iPad keyboard case, and so hopefully it will not get lost easily.

The pen has a Lithium Polymer battery with a full charge giving up to 11 hours of use, and a fifteen minute top up giving enough for a day's work. Just click the end button to switch on and again to turn off, although it will turn off automatically after 5 minutes of inaction.

The pen needs no Bluetooth connection to work - be sure to disconnect any Bluetooth pen before using this one - and is simple and enjoyable to use, featuring both palm rejection and tilt sensitivity. I find it compares very favourably with the Apple USB-C pen, although like that pen, it lacks the high end features of the ApplePencilPro, such as squeeze sensitivity, haptic feedback, hover display, etc.

It is designed to work with the A16 11th generation iPad and will work with many others also, but it will not work with the latest high end iPads requiring Bluetooth.

Compatible devices:

2025 Ipad 11
ipad Air 11''/13'' (M3)
2024 iPad Air 11-inch & 13-inch (M2)
iPad Pro 11-inch (M4)
iPad Pro 13-inch (M4)
iPad (6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th generation)
iPad Air (3rd, 4th, and 5th generation)
iPad Pro 11-inches (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation)
iPad Pro12.9-inch (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th generation)
iPad Mini (5th and 6th generation)

If you need a decent quality and easy to use stylus pen for your new iPad, then for the price of less than £15, this is a very attractive buy.
