How We Deconstruct Writing Prompts (and Why It Matters)

In our homeschool, we don’t hand over a big writing prompt and hope for the best. We break it down.

Here’s our process:
- Write each part of the prompt on a sticky note
- Add a sentence stem for each note
- Guide through with simple questions to pull out ideas

Why we do this: Writing isn’t just about filling a page. It’s about learning to think, organize, and answer clearly. Sticky notes make the task visual, step by step, and much less overwhelming.

This small shift has completely changed writing time for us, and it’s calmer, clearer, and actually enjoyable.
