What Does It Mean to Belong to the Church

What does it mean, then, to belong to the Church? It means to be a member of Christ’s Body, to live within His grace, to belong to a community of love uniting earth and heaven. Christianity is not a “private religion” but a common life with Christ and the brethren.

As St. John Chrysostom says: “The Church is our hope, our salvation, our refuge.”

To belong to the Church means to belong to the very life of Christ.
