A Living Christmas Tree for our Home?

I don't like cutting down trees for decoration in December, only to throw it out in January. But metal and plastic trees are worse...and all that putting up and taking down and storing--why can't we have a real tree that stays in place all year? All you would need is a really big pot, and room for it.
