The genre-defining masterpiece Resident Evil 2 returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-pounding immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.

In Resident Evil 2, the classic action, tense exploration, and puzzle solving gameplay that defined the Resident Evil series returns. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies. Both Leon and Claire have their own separate playable campaigns, allowing players to see the story from both characters’ perspectives. The fate of these two fan favorite characters is in players hands as they work together to survive and get to the bottom of what is behind the terrifying attack on the city. Will they make it out alive?

Police Station & Parking Garage:

After Sherry is taken by Chief Irons, Claire scours the Raccoon Police Station for a way to rescue her. Using the Heart Key, she unlocks hidden areas like the Records Room and Interrogation Room while evading the unstoppable Tyrant stalking the halls. She retrieves two missing Power Panel Parts from the East Storage Room and the Clock Tower, solving environmental puzzles and fighting through Lickers and waves of zombies. With the pieces restored, Claire activates the Power Panel in the Chief’s Office to obtain the Parking Pass. But just as she does, Irons taunts her with a call from the Orphanage, revealing he has Sherry captive.

Orphanage:

Claire races across town to the Raccoon City Orphanage, where she finds the building overrun with zombies and corruption. The perspective briefly shifts to Sherry, who solves a puzzle to escape her room and hides from the deranged Chief Irons in a tense stealth sequence. Before Irons can harm her, he’s gruesomely killed by William Birkin, now fully mutating under the G-Virus. Claire arrives just in time to comfort Sherry and confront Irons’ twisted legacy. The two flee together, using the hidden elevator in the Orphanage’s Director’s Room.

Sewers:

Their escape takes them into the dark, flooded sewers beneath Raccoon City, where Birkin continues to hunt them. Claire battles horrific G-Adults, sewer-dwelling creatures that spawn parasites and block narrow passageways. To progress, she must solve the chess plug puzzle by retrieving scattered fuses across the Waste Treatment Plant, all while protecting Sherry. Along the way, Claire encounters Annette Birkin, Sherry’s mother, whose cryptic words suggest she knows far more about Umbrella and William’s infection than she admits. Eventually, Claire defeats another terrifying mutated form of William in a brutal boss fight, pressing deeper into the sewers with Sherry at her side taking the tram down to the lab (NEST).
