Sound Doctrine Saves Souls, Not Popular Opinion

The gospel reading emphasizes the importance of preaching the word and being committed to sound doctrine, even when it is inconvenient. St. Jerome’s translation of scripture serves as a reminder that ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ. We must conform ourselves to the truth of the gospel, not just the parts we find convenient, and live according to the teachings of the Church.
