John 1:1–5 takes us back to the very beginning: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John makes it clear—the Word is Jesus. He was present at creation, eternal, and fully God. Not a lesser being, not someone who became divine later, but the light shining in the darkness and the Father of eternity.
