Rep. Hakeem Jeffries Claims Democrats Don’t Want To Give Illegal Alien Health Care Benefits. Democrat-Led States Say Otherwise

Ahead of tonight’s impending government shut down, House Democrat Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries fended off claims from Republicans and senior Trump administration officials that Democrats would shut down the government unless health care benefits were given to illegal aliens by saying that “ Federal law prohibits the expenditure of taxpayer dollars on providing health care to undocumented immigrants. Nowhere have Democrats suggested that we're interested in changing federal law.”

However, Democrat-led States, like Illinois, would disagree with him:

“‘In Illinois,’ says the Chicago Tribune back on July 19, ‘adult immigrants aged 42-64 without legal status’...have lost their healthcare to save an estimated $404 million.’”
