Cleveland, OH - Body camera video is shedding new light on the recent shooting of a suspect at Case Western Reserve University by an Ohio state trooper.

The footage follows the entire encounter, starting with an attempted traffic stop and ending with shots fired near the edge of campus.

The incident began when Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers tried to stop a black Kia on Woodland Avenue for not having a license plate. The driver — later identified as Leon Terrell — refused to pull over, weaving through intersections and briefly going the wrong way. An OSHP helicopter followed the vehicle through the traffic.

At one point, Terrell and his passenger, Noreonna Echols, exited the car. Troopers reported an attempted carjacking, saying the driver of the vehicle Terrell is accused of trying to steal appeared to be armed.

Terrell ran through traffic and onto Case Western Reserve's campus, triggering a campus-wide shelter-in-place order. Bodycam audio captures troopers shouting at Terrell, followed by gunfire.

Terrell can be heard saying, "I'm shot, I'm hurt," after the confrontation. Echols was arrested shortly afterward.

Both Terrell and Echols now face charges including armed robbery and failure to comply with police orders. The two have pleaded not guilty.
