On September 29, 2025, India announced its first-ever cross-border railway projects with Bhutan in a landmark move to boost connectivity, trade, and regional growth. The Kokrajhar–Gelephu (69 km) and Banarhat–Samtse (20 km) lines will be fully funded by India at a cost of ₹4,033 crore ($454M). The projects are designed to transform transport, enhance socio-economic development, and strengthen bilateral ties under India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy. With completion targets set for 3–4 years, these railways mark a new chapter in India–Bhutan relations and promise better access to markets, industries, and people-to-people connections. #IndiaBhutanRailway #IndiaBhutanRelations #RailwayProjects #IndiaRailways #BhutanDevelopment #CrossBorderConnectivity #IndiaNeighbourhoodFirst #KokrajharGelephu #BanarhatSamtse #RailwayNews #IndiaForeignPolicy #BhutanTrade #SouthAsiaConnectivity #EconomicGrowth #RegionalDevelopment
