The Seven Deadly Sins anime officially concluded its televised run with the fourth and final season, Dragon’s Judgement, which aired from January 13 to June 23, 2021. Adapted from Nakaba Suzuki’s hit manga, the series spanned 100 episodes and covered the major story arcs from the Demon King’s resurgence through the climactic Holy War. Though originally slated for an October 2020 premiere, the final season was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing its global Netflix release of the first half to June 28, 2021, and the second half to September 23, 2021. This finale wrapped up the Sins’ long-running battle and set the stage for an era of peace in Britannia.
In Dragon’s Judgement, the heroes faced their ultimate test against the Demon King and Cath Palug. The season balanced high-stakes confrontations, like Meliodas’s struggle in Purgatory and Escanor’s sacrificial stand, with quieter moments of resolution for each Sin. By episode 100, viewers witnessed the disbanding of the original team: Diane and King planning their wedding in the Fairy King’s Forest, Ban and Elaine exploring Britannia, Gowther embarking on a self-discovery journey, and Hawk’s poignant trip to Purgatory to reunite with his brother Wild. Through these epilogue scenes, the anime delivered closure, celebrating both triumph and loss aboard its sweeping fantasy canvas.
Following the finale, Seven Deadly Sins has seen no further anime seasons. Instead, the franchise has shifted focus to its source material’s sequel, Four Knights of the Apocalypse, which launched in the manga’s pages and has quickly climbed into the top ten best-selling titles in Japan. This sequel picks up sixteen years after the original story, introducing Tristan, son of Meliodas and Elizabeth, and a new generation of heroes. Though fans have speculated about a potential anime adaptation, no official announcement has been made, leaving the next televised chapter of Britannia’s saga in limbo.
While an anime continuation remains on hold, the Seven Deadly Sins world is expanding through other media. The upcoming action-RPG Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, set to launch on PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices in January 2026, offers players a fresh storyline centered on Tristan. Featuring both solo exploration and four-player co-op dungeon raids, the game promises to deepen the lore by letting players gather resources, craft items, and battle alongside familiar faces like Meliodas, Merlin, and King. This interactive spin-off underscores how the franchise is experimenting with new formats to keep fans engaged beyond the screen.
In the years since Dragon’s Judgement closed the book on the original Seven Deadly Sins anime, the property has quietly transitioned from weekly broadcast staple to a multi-platform universe. The core series may have reached its narrative endpoint in 2021, but its legacy persists through a bestselling manga sequel and ambitious gaming ventures. For now, die-hard fans continue to await word on whether Four Knights of the Apocalypse, or perhaps a faithful reimagining of key arcs, will receive the anime treatment, keeping alive the hope that the Seven Deadly Sins will one day return to screens worldwide.
