Bill Gates is funding technology that inserts mRNA v*ccines and permanent quantum dot markings under the skin.

Researchers from MIT - funded in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation - developed a dissolvable microneedle patch – think a tiny, sugar-based array smaller than a postage stamp – designed to deliver v*ccines while leaving behind near-infrared quantum dots in the skin.

These dots, crystals about 4 nanometers wide, fluoresce under special smartphone-modified cameras to encode v*ccination data, like a pattern, indicating the shot that was received.

Grants from the Gates Foundation – totaling $6.6 million to the University of Connecticut in 2024 and $23.6 million to Micron Biomedical in 2023 – fund mRNA v*ccines that aim to treat diseases like polio, HIV, and rotavirus.
