Jacinda Ardern's Ministry of Truth

It's interesting to observe the behavioural psychology tools employed in this historic video of NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, from the NZ Covid response.

Obviously the video has been embedded into a frame by someone....but if we just focus solely on the Ardern video, what psy ops tricks can we discern?

*Consistent unbroken direct eye contact with the audience, utilising the technique of "social presence", thus giving the feeling that she is personally engaged with YOU as an individual....making you more likely to comply with the message.

*A deliberately calm and measured tone, with occasional smiles, employing "emotional contagion". Her emotional state designed to "contaminate" you with the same calm state, reducing your anxiety, increasing your sense of trust and reassurance, thus enhancing your willingness to accept the message.

*Strategic pauses with emphasis on key phrases such as "lucky Auckland". This is the technique of "framing" to highlight perceived benefits, making the audience more willing to accept attached conditions (such as using a vax pass).

*"Scarcity Principle" used. The overall narrative is one of granting permission (leaving the districts for Christmas), while also maintaining control (e.g. with conditions). This makes the audience value the limited freedoms more highly, and more willingly accept the restrictions.
