How Timing Affects Our Perspective

Because we're human, we tend to get wrapped up in our own personal drama.

When I lost my gig, it bummed me out.

It was a well-paying show, and I was looking forward to being in a new room, making new people laugh.

(New people, and a couple friends who had been asking when I was going to make it to their neck of the United States.)

I'm not one for karma, or the whole "when God closes a door, He opens a window," but I do take note of gentle reminders.

Having my friend's status update hit me right after losing my gig was a revelation: I have it pretty good.

My golf ball-size hemorrhoids aside, I have my health, I have a great family, a naughty puppy dog that nobody loves...

My friend, he's living a hard life.

A hard life, made worse by financial needs.

Well, I may not be rich, or even in much of a position to give money to many causes, but I have the ability to donate my time.

Which is why I started throwing together "Comedy for Charity" shows all those many years ago.

I stopped keeping track around the days of COVID, but my little nothings have raised somewhere in excess of $30,000 for various families, and services.

This one is gonna be small.

It's last minute, and the venue doesn't hold many people.

But, if we can get 30 people through the door, and put even $300 into his hands, hey, that's something.

Wish us luck.
