Liberty Gold Targets Big Resource Gains with 40,000m Black Pine Drill Campaign

Liberty Gold (TSX: LGD; OTCQX: LGDTF) is accelerating its Idaho gold ambitions as Centerra Gold takes a 9.9% strategic stake—a move CEO Jon Gilligan calls a “resounding endorsement” of Black Pine and its technical team. In this exclusive Kitco Mining – Mining Forum Americas 2025 interview, Gilligan details why Black Pine could become one of the most compelling U.S. gold projects of the decade.

The company is driving a 40,000-meter drill campaign to grow resources at the Rangefront deposit, uncovering more near-surface mineralization than expected. That could mean lower stripping costs and faster inclusion in early mine plans. Liberty is also evaluating historic heap-leach pads—holding 30 million tons grading 0.2 g/t gold with roughly 50% cyanide leachable ounces—potentially unlocking 50,000 to 100,000 recoverable ounces while cleaning up an environmental legacy.

Gilligan highlights major leverage to rising gold prices, noting that every $100/oz increase adds $100 million to NPV. Key milestones are already on the horizon:

NEPA notice of intent in Q4 2025

Draft decision by December 2027

Construction start in March 2028

First gold pour by late 2028

With Centerra’s backing, robust drilling results, and a clear permitting path, Liberty Gold is positioning Black Pine as a flagship U.S. gold asset ready for the next bull cycle.
