Welcome back Faith Seekers! In this Episode 54, we read and discuss
📖 Matthew 6: verses 5-8 and 9-15.
In this beautiful Gospel passage, Jesus not only gives us the words of The Lord’s Prayer, but first teaches us how to pray

In Verses 5-8, Jesus teaches that prayer is not meant to be a performance for others to see. The “hypocrites” He speaks of pray loudly and publicly, not to honor God, but to gain attention and admiration from people. Jesus reminds us that such recognition is their only reward — it does nothing for their relationship with the Father.

Instead, He calls us to pray in secret, in a quiet place where our focus is entirely on God. This isn’t about hiding faith, but about guarding the sincerity of our heart. Our Heavenly Father sees what is done in private and rewards what is genuine.

Jesus also warns against empty repetition and meaningless chatter in prayer. God doesn’t need lengthy, elaborate speeches to hear us — He already knows our needs before we even speak. Prayer, then, becomes less about impressing God with our words and more about opening ourselves honestly to Him.

🌿 Reflection: These verses invite us to examine our motives in prayer. Are we speaking from the heart, or simply repeating words out of habit? Are we looking for God’s presence, or other people’s approval? True prayer flows from love, humility, and trust in the Father who already knows and cares for us deeply.

In verses 9-15, Jesus teaches us how to pray — not for show, but in genuine humility and intimacy with God. This is where we receive the treasured words of The Lord’s Prayer, a prayer that has united believers for centuries.

💡 Reflection for Faith Seekers:
Jesus reminds us here that true prayer is not about public display or empty repetition — it’s about sincerity of heart. To be a faith seeker is to live with an openness to God’s voice, a hunger for His truth, and a willingness to forgive as we ourselves long to be forgiven.

These verses challenge us to:
Pray privately and honestly 🤲
Keep God’s will above our own 🌿
Forgive freely, releasing bitterness ❤️
Trust in His daily provision 🍞

🌟 Whether you’ve been praying the Lord’s Prayer your whole life or are just beginning to explore faith, these verses invite you into a deeper relationship with the One who loves you beyond measure.

Note: As a Catholic, I grew up reciting:
"Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us" — and for over 50 years, these words have been etched in my heart. In some Bible translations, you may read “debts” or “sins” instead of “trespasses,” yet the meaning remains deeply aligned: a call to mercy, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal.

📌 Key Takeaway: True prayer flows from a sincere heart, rooted in faith and focused on God’s presence — not on human approval.
