Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered in central Berlin to show solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and protest against the German government's stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The rally, dubbed "All eyes on Gaza", saw participants calling for an end to what they describe as a genocide in Gaza and urging the German government to reconsider its unwavering support for Israel. Organisers, including musician Michael Barenboim, emphasised Germany's obligation to prevent and punish genocide, referencing the country's own historical context.
Meanwhile, at the UN General Assembly, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul reaffirmed Germany's commitment to Israel's security while calling for a two-state solution.
However, Germany's position appears increasingly isolated as other European leaders, including the European Commission president, propose trade restrictions and sanctions against Israel.
