FLIPPING AROUND THE FM DIAL IN Kansas City: September 25, 2025
Here we go with checking out some of the FM music radio stations in Kansas City, MO. Apparently the big story is that the Chiefs are playing this weekend. It's One Hit Wonder Day and National Daughter's Day. Let's give 45 minutes to each of the radio station to shine and sound local.

94.9 KCMO: Here we have the #1 radio station in Kansas City (12+) at the time of thid aircheck. It's the classic hits station with midday host, Dave Fogel. What 's interesting here is there are 5 to 10 second commercials every hour between songs shortly after the top of the hour.

MIX 93.3 (KMXV): During the work day on the Hot AC station in KC is Steve Serrano. Although we don't hear Steve for a good 40 minutes, we do get a Taylor Swift promo after the big news that Travis Kelce (Kansas City Chiefs) and Taylor Swift announce their engagement.

HOT 103 (KPRS): Playing the R&B throwbacks is Julee Jones with the midday party. They kept talking about how Hot 103 Jamz were celebrating 75 years. I thought to myself, there's no way they've been around 75 years. Maybe I was hearing this wrong. Come to find out, they are celebrating 75 years of Carter Media which owns Hot 103.

Q104 (KBEQ): It's afternoons with Lydia Taylor playing New Country for this Thursday. I remember the days of Q104 being the big top 40 radio station. Here they highlight the, I Do Wedding Fair. Surprised they didn't tie in the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift engagement in the promo. They could do something like invite the two to the wedding fair.

THE ROCK 98.9 (KQRC): Rockin' the drive time is Ashley O on One Hit Wonder Day. A day of celebrating bands/artists who hit the charts with just one hit. Within the 45 minutes, we get a mention, but no one hit wonders. Although it's tough when they're more a new rock station, and who knows at this point.

LIFE 88.5 (KJNW): My timing is off again. Like the last city I airchecked (Minneapolis/St. Paul) trying to record the Christian AC station, Life 88.5 in Kansas City is now doing their week long funraising for the non-profit station. So I only post a couple of breaks of afternoo perosnality Abby with midday jock Adam.

99.7 THE POINT (KZPT): For the drive home it's Jessie on another Hot AC station for KC with songs from "the 90's til now" and a whole lot of national pop culture stuff.

107.3 THE VIBE (KMJK): It's the top 40 radio station in Kansas City with Dallace Jade. We catch her doing the "Four Play at 4"...the top 4 songs at 4pm.

101 THE FOX (KCFX): I remember Chuck Nasty "The Nastyman" from his days at the top 40 102.7 KIIS FM in Los Angeles, who would switch to rock radio working afternoons at KPBI in Denver. Here he is heqrd doing nights at the classic rock station in Kansas City. The radio station celebrating 40 years in KC.
