​Iowa's largest school district just got the biggest education of all. Their $270,000-a-year Superintendent, Ian Roberts, was just arrested by ICE after a chase, found in his school-issued vehicle with a loaded handgun, a hunting knife, and $3,000 cash.

​FACTS:
​He was an illegal alien subject to a Final Order of Removal since May 2024.
​He had no legal work authorization.
​He had a prior public gun charge from 2020 (which he reportedly disclosed and was "satisfied" with the context).
​The Des Moines School Board hired him after a "comprehensive" background check and an I-9 form where he allegedly claimed U.S. citizenship.

​This isn't just an immigration failure; it's a massive failure of due diligence. How does a district entrusted with thousands of children and millions in taxpayer dollars hire a fugitive with a final deportation order and a gun violation?

​Who dropped the ball? The Board? The State Licensing Agency? The Background Check Company? All of the above?
