Visions - Written By Mark Spencer

There have been many stories told by people who purposely, or accidentally disturbed Native American burial grounds. Some stories are nightmarish, and some are enlightening. It's believed that it all comes down to the intentions of the person. When approached respectfully, the experience can be enlightening. When approached disrespectfully, let the nightmares begin! So, I used the respectful approach for the premise of my story. The explorer happens upon a burial ground, and respectfully looks it over, trying to learn how it came to be. In the early morning hours he's awakened by the spirits of those buried there, as they reveal how they were murdered in 1863, by a California Volunteer branch of the U. S. Military, who tried to cover up what they did in what would later be called the Bear River Massacre.
