lakshmi is the goddess of wealth & prosperity. she is the consort of vishnu the preserver & resides in his heart. she was born when the cosmic ocean was churned by gods & demons. she is worshipped during the great festival of lights, dipawali. she blesses those who call upon her with abundance & fortune. all beings including humans, animals, divinities, & celestials, seek her in times of difficulties. This is inspired by newari paubha art of kathmandu.
