0.5 lb of self-raising flour
2 eggs
0.3 lb of golden caster sugar
0.3 lb of softened butter

Directions
Heat the oven to 350 F. Lay a sheet of parchment paper in a loaf tin with the edges hanging over the sides so you can lift the cake out. Wash, peel, and grate the apples. Roughly chop the cobnuts.

Add the sugar and butter to a medium-sized bowl and whisk to combine. One by one, add the eggs and whisk to combine.

Slowly add the flour and whisk to combine. Add the baking powder and whisk to combine. Add the apple and nut mixture and whisk to combine.

Pour the mixture into the baking tin and bake for 1 hour. Add the caramel to a saucepan and heat at a low temperature until it starts to bubble. Add the nuts and stir to combine.

Once the cake has risen, remove the cake from the oven. Pour the topping over the cake and leave it to cool for 10 minutes. Lift the cake out of the baking tin, slice, and serve.
