Prospect Park In Brooklyn, NY Walking Tour
Original Film Date: Friday September 26th, 2025
I walked around Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York for this video. The weather was pretty warm, then it became a little hot and humid at 84 degrees (84 F). Prospect Park is New York's "other Central Park", known for its two waterfalls, picnic house, the iconic boathouse, the Prospect Park Zoo, horse riding from a Windsor Terrace/Kensington horse stable, the Peristyle, historical monuments and landmarks, its dog beach, and the Prospect Park Lake. This big park is bounded next to Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Kensington, Flatbush, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
Prospect Park is close to the Greenwood Cemetery connecting with the street Prospect Park West. On Eastern Parkway, there is the Grand Army Plaza, the Central Library (Brooklyn Public Library), Brooklyn Botanical Garden, and Brooklyn Museum.
On Flatbush Avenue, there is the Prospect Park Zoo and Lefferts Historic House. Brooklyn Botanical Garden is also included here in the same area. Prospect Park has a few baseball fields called the Long Meadows Ballfields. There are hiking trail bridges, such as the Boulder Bridge. The hilltop area you will find is the Lookout Hill. There are a few playgrounds for kids to play. The Prospect Park Boathouse is the main event venue with a cafe and tourist center to check out. There are some pavilions including, one of them being the Concert Grove Pavilion.
Prospect Park looks similar and smaller than Central Park in Manhattan. Prospect Park is only 526 aces of land (0.82 sq mi), whereas Central Park is 843 aces of land (1.31 sq mi). There are more sites to see in Central Park than Brooklyn's Prospect Park.
What both parks have in common are their pros and cons. What you will see are both pros and cons, especially with some homeless people hanging out and making it risky to walk around those parks. Avoid getting near homeless people and walk on your own path. Walk to safe places and parts of those public parks. One thing that surprised me from this video is horse riding in Prospect Park from the horse stable, Be • Brooklyn equine at Prospect Park Stable. Their location is in Prospect Park South and Windsor Terrace, north above Kensington. They do lessons for horse riders at the park. You will probably see people ride horses from the stable.
