Brits Try Chimichangas for the First Time! 🇺🇸🇲🇽 (Deep-Fried Burrito?!)

A deep-fried burrito… really?! 🤯 Today this British family takes on Chimichangas for the very first time — and yes, they’re every bit as epic as you’ve told us!

We dive into the story behind this Arizona-born dish, claimed by both Monica Flin in Tucson and Woody Johnson in Phoenix — was it really an accident that created the mighty chimichanga? Either way, we stuffed ours with smoked beef rib, Mexican rice, refried beans, peppers, onions, and taco seasoning before sealing and deep-frying them until golden and crispy.

The result? Crunchy, smoky, spicy, and absolutely delicious — with a big family taste test at the end! 🌮🔥

🥘 Recipe Highlights (Our Version)

Smoked beef rib (leftover, chopped)
Mexican rice
Refried beans (pinto-based)
Onion & red pepper (yes, we know it’s usually green 🌶️)
Taco seasoning (medium blend)
Flour tortillas (warmed for rolling)
Oil for deep frying
Served with salsa, sour cream & lettuce
Cooked for ~2 minutes per side in hot oil until golden brown.
