The genre-defining masterpiece Resident Evil 2 returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-pounding immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.

In Resident Evil 2, the classic action, tense exploration, and puzzle solving gameplay that defined the Resident Evil series returns. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies. Both Leon and Claire have their own separate playable campaigns, allowing players to see the story from both characters’ perspectives. The fate of these two fan favorite characters is in players hands as they work together to survive and get to the bottom of what is behind the terrifying attack on the city. Will they make it out alive?

Sewer Entrance (Ada):

Leon follows Ada into the canal tunnels and drops into the sewage after a loud explosion, surviving a tense rear-camera chase where a mutated alligator barrels after him; you kill it by blowing the flammable pipe when its jaws get stuck, then grab a grenade and climb the ladder Ada drops for you. After reaching a small safe room with a typewriter and item box, the sequence hands control to Ada Wong as she pursues Annette Birkin through vented maintenance corridors. Playing as Ada you start light on gear (a broom-handgun and the EMF Visualizer) and must use the Visualizer to hack junction boxes and reroute power to fans, lifts and doors. Ada’s segment mixes stealthy corridor movement with quick hacking puzzles and limited ammo fights; you can stall the relentless Tyrant with headshots and table cover long enough to complete hacks. The sequence peaks in the incinerator: Ada must perform a timed, multi-junction hack under pressure to escape and snag an ID Wristband (Visitor) from a corpse, then follow Annette into the Treatment Pool Room, Ada’s segment ends there and Leon wakes back up in the Sewers.

Sewers:

Leon awakens, needing to find Ada, and takes the working lift up to the Water Gate, finds the safe room and then explores the Upper and Lower Waterways hunting chess-themed plugs, keys and upgrades (look for the Sewers Key, T-Bar Handle, and the safe combo that yields the W-870 Shotgun Stock. Combat here centers on the G-Virus G-Adults that burst from the water. In the Supplies Storage Room you collect the Queen and King plugs and the Chemical Flamethrower, then perform a plug-swap puzzle to leave with both plugs; later you return to the Monitor Room to insert all six plugs in the correct chess arrangement to power the U-Area door. After depositing the plugs and flipping the power switches in the Main Power Room you enter the Garbage Room where a huge, further-mutated G bursts through, this multi-phase boss is beaten not just by damage but by surviving until you can activate the crane controls and send shipping containers into his path, juggling dodges, stun shots, flash grenades and the flamethrower while staying out of the container’s trajectory. With G temporarily defeated, Leon and Ada reunite and reach the cable car, riding down to NEST and the lab.
