Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens Expose Spiritual Attacks and Media Campaigns Against Charlie Kirk: A Story Shaking the Conservative Movement

The American right is reeling after revelations of a disturbing episode blending progressive media, internet culture, and spiritual attacks. During a recent broadcast, Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens discussed what could be a precedent-setting case in the escalating culture war: an alleged “curse” ordered against conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Kelly explained that during a visit to Arizona, she learned that two weeks before Kirk’s murder —still under investigation— the progressive outlet Jezebel had published a mocking article bragging about “becoming the witch of Charlie Kirk’s nightmares.” The portal even linked to Etsy, the well-known crafts platform, as a place to purchase customized “spells” or “hexes.”

Many on the right see this as more than a mere anecdote. “When you play with spiritual forces, even jokingly, you cross a very dangerous line,” Kelly said, noting that Charlie and his wife Erika took the threat seriously and turned to a Catholic priest friend for prayer and protection.

Candace Owens provided context. She acknowledged that it’s possible those involved believed they were being clever or funny by ordering such rituals without understanding the spiritual dimension many believers consider real. “It’s like when Vice used to do weird experiments and publish them: they think it’s a joke, but they’re contacting people who take this stuff seriously,” she noted.

What some saw as humor, others experienced as genuine distress. Erika Kirk, a devout Christian, was deeply shaken by news of the alleged curses. According to Kelly, the couple prayed with a priest and cited the biblical teaching that “weapons will form but will not prosper.” “That’s Satan, and those witches have no power,” Charlie reportedly said.

The story is reigniting public debate on religion, free speech, and the ethical limits of progressive media. While Jezebel and similar sites have normalized using ironic terms like “spell” or “witch” to mock conservative leaders, millions of Christians are alarmed. For them, these aren’t jokes but spiritual aggressions — unacceptable in a nation still largely Christian.

This episode also highlights the media’s double standard. When a progressive outlet mocks a conservative leader with esoteric language, it’s framed as humor. But if something similar were done in reverse, the same media would call it “hate speech” or “harassment.” This asymmetry reinforces the perception that the dominant culture shields progressivism while ridiculing or demonizing conservatism.

For the Republican base, Charlie Kirk is one of the youngest and most influential defenders of traditional values and the MAGA movement. That he should be targeted —even with “curse” rhetoric— confirms, in their view, that progressivism isn’t merely debating ideas but trying to intimidate and dehumanize its opponents.

Beyond spiritual beliefs, the story shared by Kelly and Owens serves as a warning about how the internet’s “anything goes” culture can evolve into damaging campaigns. The message to conservatives is clear: the culture war isn’t only political or media-driven; it also has a moral —and for many, spiritual— dimension.
