In the midst of her grief, as she spoke of the young man that took her husband’s life, she boldly declared: “I forgive him.”

Those words echoed like more than 1,000 sermons in themselves — reminding us that forgiveness is not natural — it is supernatural.

Erika forgave by faith ✝️ and her testimony reminds us of what forgiveness accomplishes in our own lives.

1. Erika made everything right with God.
When we forgive by faith, we release the healing process, and we are made right with God. Erika chose to walk in freedom rather than carry the burden of resentment. And because of that choice, her heart was made right before the Lord.

2. Erika released her own healing and recovery.
Forgiveness doesn’t erase hurt, but it begins the process of restoration. When you forgive quickly, you heal quickly. I didn't say you forget quickly, I said you heal quickly. You release that pain. You give the Holy Spirit more to work with sooner rather than later.

3. Erika was an amazing example to others.
When you forgive by faith, as Erika did, God takes that to the wind. That message will land on the hearts and the minds of people that may never meet her or who may never know the whole full story. God will spread your message of grace and forgiveness to others.

4. Erika shut down the devil.
She stopped the work of evil in its tracks and left no room for bitterness. Not that she won't have a challenging time ahead to heal completely, or that she won’t have emotions to process, but shut down the evil influence of hell that wants to trip up her Christian faith.

5. Erika glorified God.
We all want to give God the glory, but we don't realize sometimes that the glory can come by a process of pain, suffering or setback, and how we handle that particular situation. God’s glory, His presence, it'll be around Erika for sure – and it can be around each one of you that follow her example!
