Millions of acres of U.S. farmland have already been inoculated with with genetically modified microbes, replacing the ecosystem’s natural microbiome. The soil itself is being re-formatted from a natural ecosystem into a patent-pending, CRISPR-modified, nitrogen-fixing, Roundup-spittin’ machine — with consideration given neither to crops nor consumer.
