Centrists Using Frivolous Defamation Lawsuits to Crush Political Opponents, Journalists

Right-wing elites have weaponized our legal system to crush dissent, but suddenly, liberals are emulating Trump’s tactics to shut down their critics too. Democratic congresswoman Sheila Sherfilus-McCormick filed a defamation lawsuit against her progressive primary opponent, Elijah Manley, after he criticized her. Earlier this week, liberal YouTuber David Pakman posted a video contemplating a defamation lawsuit against Wired magazine and/or Taylor Lorenz over an article where he was named as one of 90 content creators taking dark money from a group aligned with the Democratic Party. In this video we’ll talk about frivolous defamation lawsuits (and threats thereof) and why they’re a threat to free speech.
