The Truth About a CBC Blood Test

CBC stands for “Complete Blood Count” – for Cancer patients, after they receive Chemo and Radiation oncologists will do a CBC.

They take blood and look for Anemia. If the patient is anemic the oncologists will prescribe a drug by Amgen called Epogen.

They look at the Platelet count and if they are down they can prescribe a Platelet Transfusion.

They look to see if the Neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) are down to see you don’t get a “Neutropenic Fever” which is treated by the drug Neupogen.

Red Blood Cells, Platelets and Neutrophils do not kill cancer.

What Kills Cancer?

Natural T-Cells and Killer Cells.

In the CBC Blood Test they test for over White Blood Cell counts, not specific.

This is why you always want to request a CBC Differential to measure specific types of cells.
