Defense tells judge Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has served enough time behind bars

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyers asked a New York federal judge to sentence him to no more than 14 months in prison for his conviction on two prostitution-related charges, which could allow him to go free almost immediately.

Combs was acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges that carried potential sentences of 15 years to life.

His lawyers argued that his celebrity status, businesses, and legacy have been irreparably damaged, and that he has already served over a year in a notorious jail.

They emphasized that the jury’s acquittal on the most serious charges signals a degree of innocence, the Associated Press has reported.

Combs is scheduled to be sentenced on October 3, while prosecutors are expected to recommend a substantially longer prison term.
