Hurricane Gabrielle isn’t alone. Two more Atlantic systems could develop this week

Hurricane Gabrielle has rapidly strengthened into a Category 4 storm east of Bermuda, packing 140 mph winds but expected to remain mostly offshore.

Bermuda could still see rain, gusty winds, and large swells, while dangerous rip currents will affect much of the U.S. East Coast through midweek.

Two additional disturbances in the Atlantic are being monitored, with one east of the Lesser Antilles showing medium potential to develop near the Bahamas.

The other, farther east, has a high chance of strengthening into a tropical storm by midweek, possibly curving near Bermuda like Gabrielle.

The next names on the 2025 hurricane list are Humberto and Imelda.

This season started slowly but both hurricanes so far, Erin and Gabrielle, rapidly intensified into major hurricanes due to unusually warm waters, CNN has reported.

With September being peak hurricane season, experts warn the Atlantic may be entering a period of heightened storm activity.
