Biden response to Gaza was “inadequate,” Harris says in new book

In her new book 107 Days, Kamala Harris criticizes President Joe Biden for showing insufficient empathy toward civilians in Gaza killed by Israel following Hamas’ October 7 attacks.

Harris writes that she urged Biden to show Palestinians the same compassion he showed for Ukrainians, but he failed to do so, focusing instead on his Zionist stance.

She uses the book to distance herself from Biden, citing his perceived “blank check” support for Netanyahu as a factor in his unpopularity during the 2024 election.

Harris also details how Gaza protests influenced her vice-presidential selection process, ultimately leading her to pick Tim Walz over Josh Shapiro.

She emphasizes support for Israel’s security while criticizing Netanyahu’s response for killing civilians and weakening Israel’s international standing.

Harris recounts frustrations with left-wing protesters and the challenge of addressing Gaza in her convention speech, Axios has reported.

Overall, she frames the Gaza issue as morally complex, politically consequential, and central to her critique of Biden’s leadership.
