Democrats' Shutdown Switcheroo: From Sob Story To Smug Sabotage

Posted • September 23, 2025: Not so many years ago, Republicans shut down the government and the Democrats behaved as if they were overthrowing the government. They bemoaned the people who worked for the federal government in DC that would not get their paychecks. Obama closed down parks and federal monuments. It was deemed as catastrophic. —— I'm old enough to remember back in Oct, 2013 when the Govt shut down for (gasp) 16 whole days and Obama, being the petty little princess that he is, ordered the Capitol Police to keep Veterans and their families from visiting Veteran memorials - using officers and fences to keep people out. Why were fences necessary you ask? That's a good question. It's because the memorials are OUTSIDE and open to the public already. This was all about punishing our country and dissing all of our Veterans and active duty service men/women (plus their families), as well as all the patriots who love her by showing their respect.

This was Barry bitch-slapping us square in the mush when all he really had to do was nothing. Just leave it be and everything would be copestetic while the Govt figured its shit out. But not this Manchurian Candidate, nope. He decides to lash out caring not for the likes of WW2 who are regularly flown out to visit from around the country to visit one last time before they pass. The truth is that he is, and always was, a bitter little filthy Communist in a nice suit and a penchant for the affections of, well, not women. Oh, those were the days. Now, the Democrats apparently have a whole different view on government shutdowns. —— Emma Vigeland @EmmaVigeland: “A real opposition party leader would hold the line and shut down the government, underscoring the urgency of opposing Trump's fascism. How about: "We can't fund the salaries of ICE agents terrorizing communities until Trump gets the rogue agency under control." Anything!!!!” —— Rogue agents? I think Emma means the people making sure strangers aren't allowed to come into our country without the proper paperwork. What a crazy job that is! —— The Literarian Gazette @TLiterarian: “My concern about this idea is that it gives the president broader authority to decide what is essential and what isn’t, what gets funded and what doesn’t, during the shutdown. Could easily backfire.” —— Heaven forbid a President has some authority to decide what is essential when Congress decides not to fund the government!

If you’re always following public opinion taking principled stances and leading is difficult. They want to play both sides and you can’t do that when you stake out a strong position.” —— To be fair, Yglesias guiding your party is a dumb decision, but he is hardly the problem with the modern day Democrat party. The people celebrating the murder or a political foe are way way more problematic. The problem with the Democrat's theory is Republicans won't go into absolute hysterics if the government is shut down. We're the people who believe in smaller government, after all. We might actually enjoy a government shutdown. The Democrats might just be doing the GOP and its supporters a favor.
