Week 38 Tutorial: The New Has Come (Acts 1–16; James; Galatians)

Week 38 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge have us cover the first 16 chapters of Acts, spanning a period of some 18 years of post-ascension church history. We also take a look at two of the earliest New Testament 'epistles': James and Galatians.

Note: this is our first tutorial where the recording (from 2018), does not quite match the current reading schedule (from 2025), hence why there is no mention of Galatians in this video.

In this video, Chad Mansbridge explains how the Book of James is best viewed as a 'Collection of Sayings'—a medley of one-liners and wise proverbs from Jesus' half-brother who becomes a key figure in the Jerusalem Church community. Chad also introduces us to the Book of Acts where we continue to see the 'Age of Fulfilment'' continue, as the ongoing ministry of Christ through His Spirit brings about more fulfilled prophecies from the Hebrew prophets of old.

Chad's suggested reading plan (over 5 sittings) for this week's schedule, is as follows: Acts 1–7; then Acts 8–14; then James; then Acts 15–16; and Galatians.
